About Ms. CottonBlu
I did not learn plants from the internet. I learned them growing up Southern, where houseplants and home gardens were just part of life. Now I have 150+ of my own and years of knowing what actually works, not just what sounds good on paper.
Everything I create comes from inside my world. My mirror. My plants. My practice. Real experience written down so you do not have to figure it out the hard way.

Plant Care 101
Stop guessing when to water. Stick a wooden chopstick into the soil. If it comes out clean, it's time to water. If soil is still clinging, leave it alone. No schedule needed. Succulents and cacti like to dry out a little longer.
WateringYellow leaves most often mean overwatering, especially on the lower leaves. Check the soil before you water again. Underwatering, low light, and normal aging can cause yellowing too. Most plants die from too much love, not too little.
TroubleshootingCoco coir, perlite, worm castings, and activated charcoal. This is the base mix Ms. CottonBlu starts with across her 150+ plants, then adjusts for succulents, orchids, and other specialists. Good soil is everything.
SoilBefore placing a new plant, spend 3 days tracking where sunlight actually lands. Check which way your windows face. In the US, south-facing windows get the most light and north-facing the least. Match the plant to the light.
LightingWhen you bring a new plant home, wait at least 30 days before repotting. Transplant shock is real. Let your plant settle into its new environment first. The exception: if it's rotting or sitting in soggy soil, repot right away.
RepottingBrown crispy tips often mean low humidity, but uneven watering and mineral buildup from tap water cause them too. Group your plants together or run a humidifier, and try filtered water if the tips keep browning.
